David Anselmo

David Anselmo is a Canadian producer and former actor who is the CEO of Hideaway Pictures and the Northern Ontario Film Studios, the first and biggest film production company and studio - respectively - in Northern Ontario. After studying Law, Psychology, and Theatre at Laurentian University, Anselmo began his acting career in Europe working with small theatre groups in 2001. When he visited a friend in South Korea, he ended up spending the next seven years working as an actor and producer, which was a great beginning for a career in the film industry. Many credits in his filmography include successful international films such as "Rpoint", a 2004 horror film during the Vietnam War, "Welcome to Dongmakgol", a 2005 comedy-drama during the Korean War, and the highest grossing South Korean film of all time, "The Host", a 2006 science fiction horror film which passed $100M at the box office. His career has continued to grow during 10 years wherein 2008, he founded Hideaway Pictures where his goal was to give opportunities to people who have stories to tell within' film and television in Northern Ontario. Anselmo moved back to Sudbury in 2011 where he would open NOFS in 2012. As President of Production of Hideaway Pictures, he has triggered regional funding of over $30 million for over two dozen feature films and television series produced in the North. He has brought films to Northern Ontario starring Academy Award Winner Mercedes Ruhl, Academy Award Nominee Chloe Sevigny and Meg Tilly, Sam Trammell from HBO's True Blood, William Baldwin, James Brolin, Adam Beach and Dominic Purcell. In 2014, he produced "The Masked Saint which was released in over 600 theatres across North America. To top that, his latest film "Antibirth", was an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016.
