Daryl Haney was nearly killed by a car while crossing the street on Sunset Boulevard in 1990. He was in the hospital for two months, had five surgeries, and to this day has a steel rod holding one of his legs together.
Had never seen a "Friday the 13th" movie at the time he was approached about writing one. He successfully pitched the idea for "Part VII" on a payphone, not owning a phone of his own.
