Darren Whitfield was brought up in Barnsley, South Yorkshire where he attended Wombwell High School and latterly Barnsley College. At an early age Darren knew he wanted to be involved in TV and films, initially as a stuntman. However, it was his writing that showed early promise having a comedy game show made in to a pilot by Yorkshire Television was optioned and a pilot episode is planned to go in to pre-production in 2014. Current actors verbally attached to the project are Dean Andrews, Kenny Doughty and Shaun Dooley.
Talented BMX Freestyle rider in his youth and still continues to ride today. He also has a collection of old school and new school BMX bikes, his favorite being an exact replica of one his bikes he used to ride 25 years ago.
Staunch lifelong supporter of Liverpool Football Club who play in the English Premier League.
In school he was a close friend of "Hard Candy" and "30 Days of Night" Director David Slade. They also spent many years riding BMX together as David too was one of the countries top BMX Freestyle riders in the early 80s.
Darren is also a very keen photographer, with his main interests being action sports (such as BMX, rallying, skating) and HDR photography.
