Daniels great-grandfather, Charles Lillford-Delph, was an actor in Victorian London. His brother, Daniels great-uncle, Harry Lillford, also an actor, left England for America, settling in New York City, where he had a successful career on Broadway working with the likes of Ronald Coleman and Claudette Colbert. The Lillford brothers specialized in playing character parts. As well as the theatre, both brothers worked in early film talkies. By: D.Desrochers - Agoodah Pictures.

His favorite film is David Leans "Lawrence of Arabia", followed closely by Ingmar Bergmans "Wild Strawberries".

Has three sons with Rachel Brighton: Harry Ross , Jesse Paul , Rupert Daniel.

He has written plays all his life, winning numerous awards and nominations, and has had over 40 productions in Australia, Canada, the United States and Scotland.

Though he didnt know it at the time, he first met his future wife, Rachel Brighton, in 1987, at an Italian restaurant called Johnnys Green Room, where she worked, opposite La Mama Theatre in Melbourne, where his play "Quintessence" was playing at the time. A play hed prefer had never seen the light of day.
