After a stint in the US Navy, Daniel Allan has been a businessman most of his adult life, owning several of his own companies including a book store, a shop that restores cars, a computer repair company and networking company, among others. He did not venture into the entertainment business until 2010, but he knew how to surround himself with people in the field and at the same time apply his management skills to various projects. The foundation for any business venture is the same and Allan's skills include things from handling budgets to keeping the team on track. His first venture in the entertainment industry was when he acquired the domain name: "battlestarfanclub.com," a website dedicated to the television show Battlestar Galactica and Allan created the first Battlestar Galactica themed Social Network. Through various promotional efforts, the website quickly took off and fans from all over the world joined. Currently the battlestarfanclub.com site has 2400 members worldwide and boasts 10,000 hits per week on the site. It is also home to many celebrities that starred on the show. With the success of the website, and his new connection with Battlestar actors and fans alike Allan formed Rex Mundi Productions LLC along with partner Shawn O'Donnell in 2011. As a full partner, Allan headquartered the company in his hometown, The Dalles, Oregon, which allowed him to use his skills close to home and bring business to the local area to companies such as Optimist Printers, Craig's Office Supply and Sign Age. In 2012 Rex Mundi Productions partnered with Pax 33 to distribute the film We are All Cylons on DVD. We are All Cylons is a short film that featured Battlestar Galactica actors Michael Hogan, Michael Trucco and Kate Vernon. In 2012 Allan was selected to be the Executive Producer for the Science Fiction Reunion Convention: Galacticon 3 which took place in Houston TX during May 2013. Allan spent a year and a half prior pulling together the Galacticon 3 team, managing negotiations with the celebrities and negotiating deals with NBC Universal Studios. Galacticon 3 became the Official 35th Anniversary Reunion for the original show, and celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the re-imagined series. Galacticon 3 included actor and tech panels, contests, acting classes, and various forms of entertainment from both versions of Battlestar Galactica. Because of the success of Galacticon 3, Galacticon 4 is currently being planned for summer 2015 with additional science fiction shows being added to the event's schedule. Allan is also working on a DVD celebrating Galacticon 3 that will be made available for sale to the fans.
