Cynthia Ann Stephanie "Cyndi" Lauper is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She achieved success in the mid-1980s with the release of the album She's So Unusual and became the first artist to have four top-five singles released from one album. Lauper has released 11 albums and over 40 singles, and as of 2008 had sold more than 40 million records worldwide. She continues to tour the world, often in support of human rights.Cyndi has been married to David Thornton since 1991. They have one son, Declyn Wallace Thornton Lauper. born November 19, 1997.

(November 8, 2012) Her uncle, George Stathis, 90, was found dead in his Queens, New York home, after Hurricane Sandy.

(July 2009) Featured as a Mattel Barbie Doll in the Ladies of the 80s Pink Label Collection [#R4461] along with Debbie Harry and Joan Jett.

In preparing for the music video "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", there was a small budget so Cyndi bought furniture and painted the sets for the living room and her bedroom, found a tablecloth with a pattern to copy for the kitchen walls so it would have a very 1950s look, handed out her collection of sunglasses to all the girls for the shoot, and shared her makeup with all the women.

While working as a maid/nanny in the early 1970s, her dog Sparkle was run over by a tractor driven by a five-year-old on his birthday. The vet explained there would be hope if Sparkle lived through the night, and she eventually recovered.

In the book "Cyndi Lauper" by Steve Radlaur, a list of jobs she did short-term in the 1970s were listed, including ear piercer. In her autobiography, she revealed she only pierced one ear and could not even finish because she did not have the stomach for the work.

She was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6243 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on April 11, 2016.
