Supporting actor on stage and film. In the early days of silent films Payton could usually be seen playing either outlaws or lawmen in westerns shot in New York.
Toured with a stock company operated by his 1st cousin, well known actor and theatre manager Corse Payton (Americas best bad actor). His cousin Corse once had the privilege to be aboard a train that was being robbed by the notorious James brothers.
