Biography

Bruna Matsin is a SAG-AFTRA Actor and an award-winning Writer and Filmmaker. A native of France, she also spent time in England as a child before moving to the United States in the mid 90s'. While her passion for performing and writing goes way back to childhood, Matsin initially got into law school with a minor in Political Science. Four solid years later and she was back to her one true love for the Performing Arts, leaving law school for the San Francisco Shelton Studios before transferring to the bay area American Conservatory Theater two years later. At "A.C.T.", Matsin studied with Michael Carroll under the Artistic Direction of Bruce Williams and as part of the "Studio A.C.T." program. A true outdoors lover, she's also an avid lap swimmer and an accomplished skier. Matsin resides in Los Angeles and San Francisco and still visits Europe regularly.

Eventually took the unequivocal decision to quit Law school to pursue her original passion for acting upon exiting a double feature screening of Lars von Triers "Breaking the Waves" followed by the Coen Brothers "Fargo".

(August 2006) August 23, 2006: Gave birth to twin baby girls, Victoire and Celeste.

Bette Davis, Emily Watson, Julie Walters, Imelda Staunton and Glenn Close are among her favorite actresses.

A long time admirer of British iconic character actress Maggie Smith, she was beyond thrilled to be cast as her French voice in "Becoming Jane", dubbing Smiths "Lady Gresham" character for the airlines version and release of the film. Says this remains her most exciting and most memorable voice over/French dubbing experience to date.

A self-taught filmmaker whose primarily background is in Acting, her directorial debut and first short-film production of "The Lollipop Thief" went on to win the Best Family Short Film Award at the 2015 San Diego International Kids Film Festival, which was also the film World Premire.

Auditioned for the part of "Cindy Williams" in the 2013 award winning comedy "The Golden Scallop", directed by Joseph Laraja. The film won the Audience Award at the 2013 Austin Film Festival as well as an award for Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking at the 2013 Newport Film Festival Award. Comedian Sarah Taylor from NBCs show "In Gayle We Trust" was eventually cast to play the role.

Brought in to audition for the funny part of "Carol", a German Esthetician working in a beauty salon, in an early episode of ABCs TV show "Cougar Town" starring Courtney Cox.

Brought in to audition for the part of the "Actress" in an early draft of Barry Levinsons film "What Just Happened". The movie, penned by Art Linson, starred Robert De Niro, John Turturro, Catherine Keener and Sean Penn. The role eventually went to Moon Bloodgood whose character can be seen as "Laura" in the final cut of the film.

Had to combine a full-time job in a San Francisco law firm and a part-time night shift job as a hotel receptionist in order to pay rent and afford her acting classes and training during her years as a student of the San Francisco Shelton studios and American Conservatory Theater. Has kept strong ties with her former employers since, who were always most supportive of her artistic endeavors.

She and her twins are avid fans of the "Harry Potter" movie franchise, having seen all 8 installments countless times, and still frequently enjoying "Harry Potter" movie marathons.

Bluegrass music lover.

Some of her favorite male Actors include Michael Caine, Marcello Mastrioanni, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight, Forest Whitaker, Tim Robbins, Denzel Washington, Colin Farrell, John Lynch, Giancarlo Esposito and Ciarn Hinds.
