Grew up in Lawrence, Kansas.

Attended University of Kansas.

Graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 1975 with a batchelors degree in Film and Television production, with an emphasis in screenwriting.

Recieved a masters degree in professsional writing from USC.

Has written several screenplays.

First job in "the biz" was working for Bob Mackie and Rhett Turner doing costumes for the Donnie & Marie (Osmond) Show.

First job in sound was walking Foley at Neiman-Tillar Associates. Recommended by LMU classmate (now mixer) Bob Beemer, Bruce walked in the door not even knowing what Foley was, was hired, and became an accomplished Foley artist before moving on to sound editing.

Father was Chuck Lacey, who has over 80 editing credits for his work at Centron Films, Lawrence, Kansas, producer of "social hygiene films" in the 1950s.
