Biography

Formally trained in Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting, writing, music, and animation, Bruce Jones began his career as an Art Director for the motion picture industry upon graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Soon thereafter, he began utilizing his design skills to create and produce visual effects in a number of venues and formats including feature film, television, music videos, webisodes, commercials, 3D animated features, Imax, and Omnimax films. Although his career focus continues to be on Visual Effects Supervision and 2nd Unit Directing for feature film, his passion for painting, writing, and music continues to this day.

He was the oldest of six children born to a steel erector father, Bruce and his factory worker wife Irene. He grew up in Collyhurst and left school at sixteen. During his school time he appeared in school plays beginning with a part as the wise man in the school nativity play at the age of 5.

He trained at the Manchester Theatre School.

On 10th October 1977, he and a friend discovered the body of murdered prostitute Jean Jordan, a victim of the Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe , in allotments near Princess Road, Manchester.

He is a noted comic-book writer and occasional artist, who has worked on such prominent titles as "Creepy," "Eerie," and "Vampirella" (Warren Publishing), "Twisted Tales" and "Alien Worlds" (Pacific Comics), "Conan the Barbarian," "Ka-Zar the Savage," and "The Incredible Hulk" (Marvel Comics).
