Was the first actor to be cast for X-Men .

Director Robert Aldrich gave advice to Davison when he was starting out as an actor. "Be a character actor. Hero or villain, character actors always work.".

Although it is indicated in X2 that his character (Senator Kelly) is at least 20 years younger than Brian Cox s character (William Stryker), in real life, he is only 27 days younger.

Has appeared with Ian McKellen in four different films: Six Degrees of Separation , Apt Pupil , X-Men and X2 . The first of these is the only one not directed by Bryan Singer.

Originally attended Penn State as an art major and planned on being a painter. Davison auditioned for a school play on a bet and immediately realized that he would rather be an actor instead.

Father of a son, Ethan Davison (born April 5th 1996) with Lisa Pelikan and a daughter, Sophia Lucinda Davison (born May 29th 2006) with Michele Correy.

He was awarded the 1990 Drama-Logue Award for Performance for "The Cocktail Hour" in the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson at the James A. Doolittle Theatre (University of California) in Los Angeles, California.

The January 28, 1976, issue of Variety, in the Film Production section, lists the movie "Fifty-Two Pickup" which began filming Dec. 21, 1975 in Israel, director Menahem Golan, starring Joe Don Baker, Trish Van Devere, Bruce Davison, and John Marley through Golan-Globus Productions. Golan-Globus delayed it until 1986 with a different cast and crew.
