Biography

Brenda was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She earned her Bachelors degree in Commerce at the University of Alberta and later an MBA in Finance at Pepperdine University. Before entering the AFI Conservatory she held a Business Director position with Universal Studios Home Video. Brenda graduated in 2005 from AFI with an MFA in Producing. Her 35mm coming-of-age thesis film directed by Anna Christopher, Queen of Cactus Cove, premiered at the Los Angeles Int'l Children's Film Festival in December 2005 where it won Best Live-Action Short. Since then it has screened at more than 22 film festivals worldwide, three of which were Academy Award qualifying festivals. To date Queen of Cactus Cove has won six festival awards, including two Audience Awards, the Jimmy Stewart Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival, and the $5000 Priddy Brothers Triumph Award at the Angelus Student Film Festival. Queen of Cactus Cove was also one of three films selected to screen at the WindRider Forum during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January 2007. 2 Dogs Inside, a film noir thriller à la Hitchcock style directed by Robert Weiermair, has screened at festivals such as the Palm Springs Shorts Film Festival in California, the Australian International Film Festival in Melbourne Australia, and the European Independent Film Festival in Paris France. Brenda is currently in negotiations with a Canadian distributor for the worldwide distribution rights to the film. Brenda recently completed TRES, an adaptation of three poems by acclaimed Argentinean filmmaker Carlos Hugo Christensen. She is currently focusing her attention on a coming-of-age comedy called Most Likely To Be Joe. Brenda is married to Robert Weiermair and has one son, Alexander.

Trivia

Studied ballet at The National Ballet School in Toronto, The Alberta Ballet School in Edmonton, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal. She was a professional ballet dancer before obtaining her Business Degree from the University of Alberta.

Attended Pepperdine University on a full scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude with an MBA in Finance.

Serves on the Board of Directors of NAEJA Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Co-founder of a small theater company in Boston Massachusetts.
