Latvian-born writer-director who had worked with Sergei Eisenstein in Russia. Ingster arrived in the U.S. during the 1930s, where he became best known as the director of Stranger on the Third Floor , an effective minor film noir, produced by RKO on a modest budget. Ingster helmed another film noir a decade later, Southside 1-1000 , before moving on to television as a writer/producer.
