Got this for my wife and haven't read it, but from what I hear from her it makes sense and she's got two Ivy League degrees...so it must be so!.
Don't bother with this book - all of James "Area 51" Carville's predictions have been smashed to pieces.About the only purpose you could have for buying this book is to put it on your bookshelf as a personal reminder to NEVER gloat about success nor assume that it will be permanent.
Holy Cow, how could anyone be proven wrong in such a short time. 40 Years?
Especially in light of what happened on Tuesday, the premise for this book really is a stitch. Remember the one about the Thousand-Year Reich?.
"Dynasty: How the L.A.
Well, it's July 2010, and the polls show the Democrats & Obama tanking quite well, and heading for November problems. I DO reckon they have tried to pile drive through their agenda that the majority of voters don't want in a number of examples.
In 40 MORE YEARS, James Carville took what was then so painfully obvious to him that the Far Left would reign supreme in the White House for decades to come. He looked at the obvious (again to him): the lingering ill will directed at George Bush, demographics that favored future leftist candidates, the ongoing support of the major media, Hollywood elite, and this nation's colleges, universities, and public schools.
I received this book the day before Republican Scott Brown was elected as the newest Senator for the bluest state in the union, Massachusetts. His election has to rank as one of the biggest historical upset of recent times; this of course came on the heals of Virginia and New Jersey governorships being won by Republicans and rather than the Democrats "ruling" for 40 more years as Carville predicts it appears that they cannot even keep the momentum going for 10 months.
The title for any future editions should be changed to "How the Democrats will Rule for 2 years" since that is how long it took them to squander total control. No one should take this clown seriously.
This book is an easy read with an expected message: As of the Presidential election of 2008 and its aftermath, Republicans have gotten themselves in a deep, deep hole. Demographics tell us that the Democrats will be favored for decades to come.
One not even need open the book to get a sense of where all this will lead. The subtitle says it all: "How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation" That's "RULE" the next generation.
The book is just as wise and witty as watching those two being interviewed on TV. They keep you interested and give very useful information.
This book is targeted to a particuar audience so it tells you what you expect to hear, the truth. Nice details and numbers that would be difficult to find on your own.
I have never read a Carville book before; for the main reason that in the past I felt like I really could not stand him. However, I am one of the under-40 somethings that he describes in his book.
First off, James Carville denies that a Democrat will be elected President for the next forty years. In that case the book is not aptly titled.
