This confirms Hal Colebatch's reputation of being, with the exception of Les Murray, the best poet in Australia. Two long poems stand out - "Redhead wioth Phosphorus", a love story, and, in great contrast, "The San Demetrio", telling of the savaging of a burning petrol tanker in World War II.
