Billy Mays

After meeting Orange Glo International founder Max Appel at a home show in Pittsburgh in the mid-1990s, Mays was recruited to demonstrate the environmentally friendly line of cleaning products on the St. Petersburg-based Home Shopping Network.

Developed his style demonstrating knives, mops and other "as seen on TV" gadgets on Atlantic Citys boardwalk. For years, he worked as a hired gun on the state fair and home show circuit, attracting crowds with his booming voice and genial manner.

Father, with Dolores May, of Billy Mays III (born in 1985), and, with Deborah Mays, of Elizabeth Mays.

Brother of Randy Mays.

Was the CEO and founder of Mays Promotions, Inc., based at his home in Odessa, Florida.

Was a Republican.

Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, attended Sto-Rox High School, and was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Later dropped out of West Virginia University and worked for his fathers hazardous waste company before moving to Atlantic City in 1983.
