British actor
Son of actor Wilfred Shine.
His first role was as a stork in Princess Posey in 1917 The Winter Gardens New Brighton.
Has a son by each of his wives.
His father, mother, grandmother, two uncles and an aunt all worked in the theatre.
Tall, sleepy-eyed British stage and screen actor, on stage from the age of six. Entered films in 1929, adept at musical comedies and melodramas. A decidedly theatrical type, he generally sported a monocle and a handle-bar moustache. Shine was usually typecast as affable dandies, silly-ass bunglers or slightly dense aristocrats.
