Biography

Bill Peet was an American children's book illustrator and a story writer for Disney Studios. He joined Disney in 1937 and worked on The Jungle Book, Song of the South, Cinderella, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Sword in the Stone, Goliath II, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, Pinocchio, Fantasia, The Three Caballeros, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and other stories.After successes developing short stories for Disney, Peet had his first book published, Hubert's Hair Raising Adventure.

After the two animated feature films with Disney, Peet left the studio in 1964 because of a thorny relationship with Disney. In his autobiography published in 1989, Peet said he drew the evil Captain Hook in Peter Pan to resemble Disney.

Winner of Annie Award for contributions to animation, plus more than dozen awards for his childrens books such as "Goliath II", "The Pinkish, Purplish, Bluish Egg" and "Chester the Worldly Pig."

Started career as greeting-card company artist in Dayton, Ohio. Attracted to Disney by newspaper ad for artists. Early on, drew Donald Duck cartoons, then "Pinocchio"

Helped develop storyboards for many of Disneys classic animated features.

Brother of George C. Peed.

Honored as a Disney Legend in 1996.
