American pioneer rock and roll musician, composer, and musical arranger
Worked as a music director at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, before moving to Memphis in 1954. He arranged and led the studio bands for Elvis Presley , Johnny Cash , Jerry Lee Lewis and Charlie Rich.
Had a hit with the instrumental "Raunchy", which peaked at #2 on the Billboard music charts.
Was a producer at the legendary Sun Records in Memphis, TN.
