Born and raised in Reading, Berkshire, Ben Wicks grew up with a passion for acting and performing. Known for writing short plays for his friends in primary school to playing lead parts in his secondary school years, Ben decided during A Levels to try out life behind the camera. Since 2013, Ben has directed numerous short films, television pilots, music videos and client based videos, going on to receive praise from top industry professionals. Working with his company, Shoreditch Pictures, Wicks' thought-provoking and , sometimes, hard hitting writing and directing, tackles social realistic themes and challenges the stereotypical norm of the drama genre. Away from directing short film and the like, Ben works on sets in the AD department and has worked for Sky, BBC and ITV.

He was awarded the C.M. (Member of the Order of Canada) on June 23, 1986 for his services to visual arts in Canada particularly as a cartoonist.
