Biography

Barbro Anna Elisabeth Kollberg was a Swedish actress, theatre leader and acting teacher born on December 27, 1917 in Eskilstuna. She studied at the Royal Dramatic Theatre School 1937-40. She was engaged at the Blache Theatre, Stockholm. In 1943 she was approached by director Gösta Cederlund to play the leading role as Marta in the feature film "Kungsgatan". This was her tenth film, but the most significant role so far. Along with Lorens Marmstedt she was the theatre manager and actress at the Skansen Theatre 1945-59. She was later engaged at the City Theatre of Norrköping-Linköping. 1976-82 she worked as a teacher at Drama School in Gothenburg. Barbro Kollberg appeared in 46 feature films and a number of television productions during her long career 1939-2006. She married in 1942 with writer Guido Valentin . She had two daughters Margaret and Marianne in her first marriage and her two sons Lars-Åke and Björn from the second marriage.
