Biography

In 2016 Jokinen finished his fourth feature film Flowers Of Evil, based on his own screenplay. The film was selected to main-competition at Shanghai International Film Festival. Jokinen won the award for Best Director. In 2012 Jokinen wrote and directed a feature film Purge, based on an award-winning novel written by Sofi Oksanen. The film was the official entry for the ACADEMY AWARD'S BEST FOREIGN FILM and won five Jussi-awards . It was a major box office success and was selected to several A- list film festivals. In 2015 Jokinen wrote and directed The Midwife, based on an award winning novel by Katja Kettu. The Midwife is a love story, set against the historical backdrop of The Lapland War in 1944- 1945, a conflict between Germany and Finland in the aftermath of WWII. The Midwife has already competed in eleven main competitions for festivals including Shanghai, Waterloo and Camerimage. It has seven wins. In Finland, the film was the the biggest box office drama in 25 years.

The son of a sports journalist/commentator Juha Jokinen.

Antti attended East Carolina University on a basketball scholarship. He graduated at the top of his class with a major in Broadcast and Film. While in college, he made a short film based on Jim Morrison s poetry entitled: "Fist Full of Sand." The film won a filmmaking award at the North Carolina Film Festival and attracted attention from executives at MTV in New York City.

After college, he moved to New York and worked for MTV as an assistant producer on the music shows "Awake on the Wild Side" , "MTV Rocks" and the seminal "Yo! MTV Raps" .

When he returned to his native Finland, he co-founded his own production company, Solar Films, which has grown into Finlands largest TV and film producer. Solar Films has produced two of the top ten grossing Finnish films of all time.

During his years in Finland, Antti directed and co-wrote two large drama series for national television. "Thtilampun alla" and "Kirjava silta" both won several television drama awards in Finland. Antti also directed and co-wrote a half fictional documentary Bioterror , which was shot in English and distributed via Canal Plus into ten different countries around the world, including the United States.

After CVC-Report ranked him as one of the top ten upcoming directors in the world, Antti was approached by several prominent music production companies for representation in the United States. It did not take long before he quickly became one of the most requested music video directors worldwide.

Antti is represented by Nick Reed at ICM for feature film work, and has two of his own original screenplays in development. He will begin directing his first full-length feature film in June 2009 in New Mexico. Hammer Films The Resident will star Hilary Swank , Jeffrey Dean Morgan , and Christopher Lee. Antti co-wrote the thrillers screenplay with Robert Orr and Erin Cressida Wilson. The movie is due to open in 2010.

Artists such as Will Smith , Shania Twain , Cline Dion , Missy Elliott , and Shaggy , as well as up-and-coming performers have chosen Anttis visual flair as their calling card. Known for his lighting and on-screen composition, Antti has forged a new and graphic template that combines the grittines of artists like Wyclef Jean and City High with the girl-next-door charm of American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and European pop sensation Westlife.

Since summer 2014 he has been engaged to Krista Kosonen , who will give birth to couples first child in autumn 2015.

2005-2011 he was engaged to celebrity chef Sara La Fountain.

He has one child (Paavo) with Niina Kurkinen.
