Considered one of the greatest popular composers of 20th century.

He recorded two album of songs in duet with Frank Sinatra.

Father of composer Paulo Jobim. Grandfather of Daniel Jobim.

Co-author of the song "Girl from Ipanema" ("Garota de Ipanema" in the original Portuguese), one of the most played and recorded songs ever. The song was first inspired by Hel Pinheiro , a young girl he and poet Vinicius de Moraes used to see passing in Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He is popularly known in Brazil as Tom Jobim.
