Born in Viareggio 10th June 1933, Ansaldo Giannarelli graduated in law with a thesis entitled "The public administration of the film industry". From 1953 to 1954 he was assistant to the director M. Monicelli and in 1963 participated in C. Zavattini's collective film I misteri di Roma. He has directed over 40 short films, including: 16 OTTOBRE 1943 at the University of Bologna. Ansaldo Giannarelli is president of the "Fondazione Archivio audiovisivo del movimento operaio e democratico".
