Anna Friel is an English actress, born in Rochdale. She has been acting since the age of 13, appearing in a number of British television programmes. She made her West End stage debut in London in 2001, and has subsequently appeared on stage in several productions, including an adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany's and as Yelena in a 2012 production of Chekhov's Uncle Van-ya. She is the recipient of a number of awards including National Television Award . She has also appeared in music videos and television and print media advertising campaigns and is the recipient of an honorary degree from the University of Bolton.
Made her British stage debut in off-West End London production of "Lulu" by Frank Wedekind in 2001.
Made her American stage debut at New York Citys Music Box in 1999 as Alice in Patrick Marber s "Closer".
She and ex-boyfriend David Thewlis became The Faces Of Mulberry for Spring 2002.
Caused a major controversy with her Lesbian screen kiss with Nicola Stephenson on the set of "Brookside" in 1994.
Is of Irish descent.
Lobbied for the role of "Nymphadora Tonks" in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , after the sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, revealed that "Tonks" was romantically involved with "Remus Lupin", who is played by her real-life boyfriend, David Thewlis.
