Biography

Production Sound Mixer and Sound Recordist Adam Fletcher has been recording sound since he was 15. Originally from a music back ground Adam started recording music in his bedroom with a cheap dynamic microphone and some free software. At the age of 18 he opened his first recording studio in his home town, Derby, at the popular rock and roll music venue, 'The Victoria Inn'. Adam recorded and produced music for local artist like Thee Deadtime Philharmonic, The Telephones and The Downpage Liberation. At the same time he recorded sound for zero budget short films for fun and found a love for capturing clean dialogue. He also used his recording studio facilities to do sound design, dubbing mixing and ADR recording. Adam then went on to Boom Operate for other Production Sound Mixers on Feature films and TV Drama where he has continued to learn and progress. Eventually Adam became very busy recording sound on Commercials, corporate videos and TV broadcast. He decided to put his music career on hold and focus on film and TV. Adam believes that great sound is extremely important to telling stories through film, capturing original performances cinematically is his ultimate aim. He collaborates with Directors on shorts and features early and really gets behind the script. He says its extremely important to get him and his team involved early in pre production to give them best chance to capture original performances as clean as possible.

Quotes

It is not enough to simply listen to student voice. Educators have an ethical imperative to do something with students, and that is why meaningful student involvement is vital to school improvement.

The single problem plaguing all students in all schools everywhere is the crisis of disconnection. Meaningful Student Involvement happens when the roles of students are actively re-aligned from being the passive recipients of schools to becoming active partners throughout the educational process.

Everyday more educators are showing that they value students by involving them in meaningful ways in school. These teachers and administrators say that it is not about ‘making students happy’ or allowing students to run the school. Their experience shows that when educators partner with students to improve learning, teaching and leadership in schools, school change is positive and effective.

Meaningful student involvement is the process of engaging students as partners in every facet of school change for the purpose strengthening their commitment to education, community & democracy.

The work of meaningful student involvement is not easy or instantly rewarding. It demands that the system of schooling change, and that the attitudes of students, educators, parents and community members change.
