Mudered by the leaders of the quasi-religious sect he was a member of, Abai Borubayev and Mirza Kymbatbayev. Borubayev and Kymbatbayev were sentenced to 14 and 10 years of prison for murder, respectively.

In order to improve his knowledge of Russian language he copied "War and Peace" of Leo Tolstoy literally by twice re-writing the entire novel by hand.

He was interested in different aspects of cinematography, particularly in writing scenarios for short movies and animation, as well as writing poems and inspiring stories.
