Biography

STANCE PUNKS formed around TSURU (Vocals) and Kinya Katsuta (Guitar) in 1998. Tetsushi Kawasaki (Bass) and Kenichi Kaki (Drums) joined to create their current lineup. The band began by doing gigs in and around Shimokitazawa's rooftop. STANCE PUNK's eccentric lives led them to conduct multiple nation-wide tours and eventually led to the release of their 2001 debut mini-album, "STANCE PUNKS". The album debuted at #5 on the Indies Album charts, sparking an immediate boost in their popularity all over the country. A full album of the same name was released the next year, debuting and maintaining the #1 rank for six straight weeks on the Oricon Indies Charts and even breaking into the Oricon overall sales charts at #6. The album is still heralded as one of the key releases in modern Japanese Punk Rock. In 2005 the band signed with the new rock label from Sony Epic, "Kowalski Records" and released their major debut single "Money Money Money".
