Biography

New Jersey based Shawn Lov began his career as a recording artist in 1994 with the release of his first LP "Speak of the Devil," which led to various live performances and guest appearances including Video Music Box Events (1994-1995), acting as the opener for Mobb Deep, King Sun, Big Pun and Ol' Dirty Bastard (1995), and as a musical guest on The Jenny Jones Show (1998). By 1997, Shawn Lov was collaborating with the late legendary Hip-Hop producer Tony- D of Poor Righteous Teacher and YZ fame, and their collaborations yielded hits like "The Lov Doctor," "I'm Pathetic," and "Respect This." Shawn's second LP "The G.O.D." was released in 1998, and was produced entirely by Tony D. It wasn't until Shawn Lov dropped his "Never Never Land" LP in 2000 that he began topping the charts on mp3.com and quickly gained a loyal underground following which expanded even further following his partnership overseas with Nuffsaid. In 2004 "The Blackout of 1977" was released on Nuffsaid Records and introduced Shawn Lov to an international audience, followed up by the critically acclaimed "Waiting for a Ghost" in 2007 which received praise by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2010 Shawn independently released The S.O.N. - a self-produced EP to show and prove that he can hold his own on the boards, and that he is still one of rawest, most impassioned rappers in the underground. 2011 saw the release of "Future Left Behind", the final chapter in a trilogy of Shawn Lov LP's released by Nuffsaid Records.
