Biography

Born in Königsberg in 1935, Renate Ewert and her family had to leave their home and relocate to Hamburg during WWII. As she was determined to become an actress, she applied for the "Hamburger Kammerspiele" but was rejected. By doing synchronising jobs for foreign movies she finally got her first role in the third part of _08/15 - In der Heimat , who wanted to visit her in her apartment: she had died three weeks previously, probably by starvation. Her parents couldn't deal with Renate Ewert's untimely death: They poisoned themselves not long after their daughter died.

Friend of Susanne Cramer.

Her father, a German soldier during World War II, fought on the Russian front, was captured and spent four years in a Russian POW camp.

In 1966 she committed suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping pills. In 1967 her father committed suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping pills. Later that year her mother committed suicide by poisoning herself.

Daughter of Paul Ewert (b. 1903, d. November 1967) and Helena/Helene Ewert ne von Wilkocewska (b. 1911, d. March 1969). Sister-in-law of Renate Ewert ne Konkel (b. 1939, d. 1969).
