Biography

German Neue Deutsche Härte band, formed in 1993 in Berlin, Germany. The band name is derived from the location of a German 1988 air show disaster, the US Air Force "Ramstein Air Base", where 70 people were killed and over 300 were injured. Throughout its existence, Rammstein's six-man lineup has remained unchanged. The vast majority of their songs are in German, but they have also performed songs entirely or partially in other languages, including English, Spanish, French, and Russian. Rammstein's award-winning live shows are known for their pyrotechnic elements and sexually explicit on-stage "plays". Members: Till Lindemann – lead vocals, harmonica (1994–) Richard Z. Kruspe – lead guitar, keyboard, backing vocals (1994–) Paul Landers – rhythm guitar, backing vocals (1994–) Oliver Riedel – bass (1994–) Christian Lorenz – keyboard, samples, synthesizers (1994–) Christoph Schneider – drums, percussion (1994–)
