Wichita Lineman

I am a lineman for the county and I drive the main road Searchin' in the sun for another overload I hear you singin' in the wire, I can hear you through the whine And the Wichita Lineman is still on the line I know I need a small vacation but it don't look like rain And if it snows that stretch down south won't ever stand the strain And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time And the Wichita Lineman is still on the line And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time And the Wichita Lineman is still on the line

gWas on my commute home when this came on, not sure why it evoked so much emotion in me but a couple tears fell down my cheeks. His voice and the guitar are so good
Russell Moxham
Russell MoxhamProbably one of the most poetic and possibly one of the most underrated songs in pop history--though perhaps especially in the studio version, with the modulation effect at the end, intended to mimic the sound of the wind in the lines
Thomas Busse
Thomas BusseIn 1975 while this gussied Wichita lineman was comfortably collecting rhinestone royalties from Hollywood, Karen Silkwood was getting poisoned by Kerr McGee in Cimmeron, Oklahoma.

blu archerI knew I remembered a television appearance where he was playing a Fender Bass 6 for the actual solo in this song...this was it.

[Dark Autumn 3D]Looking back at songs like this... It's like looking into another dimension of what used to be... A somewhat more peaceful and kinder time... Lyrics and songs used to have meaning and depth. They told a story and the singers were damn good. As a singer myself I tend to sing songs from about 1914 through to the 80's because of those reasons.

oldwest517
oldwest517I like that he isn't just lip-synching it to the recording. The vocal is different, the backing orchestra is different, and his guitar is plugged in and you can hear baritone guitar strums. Not saying that there was no Memorex involved, but it is a different performance.
