Linda KelleyI think Danny’s fans should start a petition for The current FM to set Danny’s son up with a million dollars.He kept the band going at a critical time, worked himself to the bones, cranked out great albums, never got his full dues. Mick has admittedly blown millions up his nose on cocaine, the least they can do is make sure Danny’s son is taken care of.

Leon DonnellyDanny was my friend . He was an ordinary man with a brilliant gift. A very funny man. We met i the mid 90s. He was living at his mum’s in Bethnal Green, where Peter Green was born and where I was born too, in the old Bethnal Green maternity hospital. Danny lived round the corner from me. Danny worked as an extra and a model for an agency called Uglies, his face got all beat up with baseball bats in LA. Danny was a trickster, he wasn’t hiding from the world at all, it’s just that he was unrecognisable and didn’t play guitar in public anymore. When he’d come round mine he’d play my Yamaha 12 string, I gave that guitar away many years ago to a friend... great guitar. I last saw Danny when he was moving to Holland with his Dutch girlfriend. I always hoped we’d meet up again but life takes you on various paths. I read the recent Mojo article on Danny and was happy to see that it was mostly about his music rather than the myths about his life. He wasn’t unhappy, he wasn’t homeless. He had love and friends and he was working. I made my own tribute to Danny a couple of weeks ago, I’m no great player but it came from the heart. Rest in peace Danny, you escaped them all.
