Jered Threatin, known professionally as Threatin, is a singer, song-writer, and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles, CA. The project gained widespread news coverage in November 2018 for its ill-fated UK / European tour. The shows, secured thanks to claims of hundreds of tickets sold on pre-sales and hire fees paid for before each gig, ended up being played to virtually empty venues. It soon emerged that Threatin had created a series of fake websites for a booking agency, a record label, and music press in order to give the band credibility and secure the tour, while the band's social media fanbase, including 38,000 likes on Facebook, was revealed to be fake.
