    About The Wailers

Jamaican reggae and ska group formed in 1963 as a vocal band, The Wailin' Wailers, by [a41441], [a=Peter Tosh], [a149561], [a523244], Ermine 'Cherry Smith' Bramwell and [a523243]. The Wailers became the name of the backing band of Bob Marley (in [a=Bob Marley & The Wailers]) when Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the group in 1974 (even if some [a=Lee Perry] productions like [m=79398] or [m=192201] from 1970 and 1971 used the [a=Bob Marley & The Wailers] credit yet) but were still credited as [a=The Wailers] on [a=Bob Marley & The Wailers] albums (in credits). After Bob Marley's death in 1981, the group played with artist like [a=Alpha Blondy], [a510386], [a944047] or [a247957]. Some of the members later released their own records and toured using the name [a53993] (that first appeared in 1989 on the [m=219616] album). For the American garage rock group see [a607732]....
