Dickie Goodman (April 19, 1934 – November 6, 1989) is considered one of the earliest proponents of sampling in music. He released a series of novelty records created from 1956 to 1986 starting with "The Flying Saucer Parts 1 & 2" (with partner Bill Buchanan). The "break-in" record format consisted of snippets of popular tunes spliced together and interspersed with dialog in the form of a radio show or an interview..
