This film begins in San Francisco with a man named "Frank Johnson" (Ross Elliott) walking his dog and unexpectedly becoming a witness to a murder. Being a good citizen he immediately has the police called and then gives his testimony to them.

After a man (Ross Elliott) witnesses a murder and goes on the run, his wife (Anne Sheridan) is stalked by the killer in the hope she'll lead him to her husband. The couple were on the brink of separatiion, but the whole incident has made her realise that she is learning things about him she didn't know.

I'm drawn to and admire film noir more than any other genre. Other types will show the lesson or the rush, noir uncovers the cosmic significance.

There's something frank johnson, the husband that's running away, says at the beggining where he's asked by the policeman if he was married: "in a way". These words set the most important part of the film for me: the relationshipg between him and his wife,Eleanor who's the main character here.

Caught this on TBS this week-way beyond expectations! This wasn't your typical ANN SHERIDAN role: she plays a somewhat sceptical, hard-nosed unhappy wife whose husband witnesses a gangland murder & then takes it one the lam' to shake the police who need him as a witness.

Ross Elliott witnesses a murder but cuts out on the police. In order to find their only witness and lead, they enlist the help of his wife, played by Ann Sheridan.

This San Francisco set and shot B-Movie Noir may be no masterpiece but as B-Movie Noirs go, it's really a terrific example of its kind that wastes no time in getting down to business. Ross Elliot is the witness to a gangland murder.

Ann Sheridan was one of the most savagely beautiful women who ever lived. This noir shows her range of acting ability that surpasses every actress today.

This is a rather superior little crime feature with a good, workmanlike cast delivering quite a suspenseful story without any fuss. "Frank Johnson" witnesses a gangland murder and goes into hiding.
