I live in Hawai'i and because of that, I could relate to the history of how a Polynesian of Maori descent would've been treated back then. The British treated the Maori just the same as how the Americans treated the Hawaiians.

The Amazon synopsis contains so many errors it is just goofy. Whoever wrote it should simply lose his job.

The cat and mouse/hunter-prey theme is pretty well rought but this film adds a convincing human element to a film that might otherwise get caught up in the landscape or action. The early scenes and some of the supporting cast are a little lackluster, and reminded this viewer how difficult it is for New Zealand films to escape a sort of provincialism (for want of a better word) that can often be detected in kiwi films trying to be 'international'.

The interaction between the South African tracker and his quarry, a Maori man is unique. Very quickly you learn they both respect each other but neither will admit it.

This movie was great. Great dialogue, great acting, great scenery.

Perhaps I wasn't in the right mood but I just couldn't enjoy this film no matter how hard I tried. I felt this movie had all the artistic merit of a NZ tourism commercial.

Don't skip this base on that rating.A powerful story with compelling character backstories.

When I found this show, I thought it would be pretty good, since Adrian Paul had been The Highlander for many years, and his nemesis was Zin, played by Geraint Win Davis. Davis had been Detective Knight on one of my favorite shows, Forever Knight, about a vampire who is a police detective.

Yet again another period drama where anyone British or probably more rightly "English" are portrayed as relentless psychopaths! Sadly another movie where the NZ scenery was the most impressive thing about it.
