Well you have to at least give "The Tripper" an "A" for originality...A strange little tale of the hippie culture being massacred by a Ronald Reagan-Masked killer during a music festival in the country.

Odd stylistic choices and misanthropic humour are abound as Jaws meets Friday the 13th meets the late 2000's stoner movie as Arquette delivers a movie that typifies the extreme tones of it's contemporaries, but also features specific social commentary and decent performances which sure as hell were not commonplace amongst horror films of it's time. The Tripper has a unique story that is told in an interesting manner and that alone is enough to single it out amongst the torture porn crowd.

After seeing his father and lumberjack foreman being hit by a protester and arrested by the police, Gus kills the protester with a chainsaw. Jump forward a few years, and we meet Samantha, after being abused by her former boyfriend, travels with her friends to the American Free Love Festival.

...because based on the evidence of "The Tripper" he's an average-at-best director and a distinctly second- or even third-string screenwriter, though no doubt hamstrung by the scripting contributions of Joe "Darkness Falls" Harris.

From the twisted mind of David Arquette, come the Tripper, a Horror film, that he promised would change the way we see Horror. There's no doubt that Arquette set big expectations for this film, unfortunately the Tripper fell well short of achieving it's goals.

Well, if comedy/horror is your thing, than David Arquette's 'The Tripper' may be for you. Part satire and tribute to 80's slasher films and part political satire, I can't say I did not enjoy this flick.

That so many prominent actors would collude to produce this piece of crap saddens me. Sophomoric would be an aspiration for this film but The Tripper can't reach that bar.

OK, it was campy, fun and a little racy too. But I thought it was totally entertaining!

OK so I've read a lot of these comments about how they think it's dumb that the characters are so revolved around they're drug use the whole movie or people just asking why that is.I have been to festivals and understand how and why the characters are acting like that.
