This was the first time I had really seen The Royal Variety Performance, I didn't normally watch the entire show, just came across it flipping through the channels, but when Paul Potts was made the winner of Britain's Got Talent, getting a place on the show I wasn't going to miss it, not just for him, but all of it. Hosted by Phillip Schofield and Kate Thornton, and attended by Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, performances and appearances in the show came from: singer Seal (performing twice), singer Katherine Jenkins with Viva La Diva, comedian Al Murray, singer Enrique Iglesias performing "Tired of Being Sorry", comedians Big Howard Little Howard, the cast of the West End show Hairspray with Michael Ball and Mel Smith, singer James Blunt, comedian Russell Brand, the English National Ballet Louis Armstrong's performing the Nutcracker, shadow puppeteer Raymond Crowe performing "What a Wonderful World", singer David Jordan performing "Sun Goes Down", Britain's Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan introducing opera singer Paul Potts performing two songs including "Nessun Dorma", pianist Lang Lang, comedian Jimmy Tarbuck, comedian Joan Rivers, operatic band Tiatro performing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables, comedian Stephen K.
