It gets 10 for the theme music alone. I can think of few film/TV theme tunes that are so haunting and so instantly recognisable.

Tony Curtis plays Tony Curtis and Roger Moore plays Roger Moore, and the best moments are when they squabble. Moore's style is derived from The Saint (hint: "Sinclair" is an old family associated with the Templars), Curtis gets into his "brash fast talking Brooklyn kid who made it" character with zeal (hint: "Danny Wilde"), and The Avengers contribute various writers, directors and producers.

"The Persuaders" - in Germany they were called "Die Zwei" ("The Two"), were absolutely gorgeous translated by two men and they did a great job ! (The name of the one was "Brunnermann" - 'Brett Sinclair' did once use 'Brunnerman' as a "camoulflage"-name) Unfortunately i never saw the original versions in English.

One may watch one of the episodes and say "They certainly weren't that creative". We must take a look at what we have come to in today's day and age when it comes to movies, which, in many cases, are nothing but a portrayal (in the minds of many of us) of what we wish we were, from a standpoint of lifestyle, socio-economic standing, looks and, last but not least, power (gosh, why did I put that for last..?

I remember as a kid I used to run home every time I heard the theme of The Persuaders. Strangely, I do not recall much of the content.

Perhaps the last hurrah for all those wonderful escapist programmes from the late 60's and early 70's, "The Persuaders" took the genre to the max with star power and location shooting the likes of "Department S", "Randall And Hopkirk Deceased" and "The Champions" could only dream of. I remember when the show came out in 1971 there was such a buzz about it, all to do of course with the curiosity of the dream pairing of Curtis and Moore as the mix and match lead characters and after catching a load of the cleverly assembled title sequence and John Barry's brilliant theme tune, it was easy to watch from there.

"The Persuaders" was the last of the truly great shows from "ITC." By 1971, Lew Grade had spent several years at the top of his game and had produced some solid entertainment.

This show has got to be the one action series that stood out from the rest,of its time. One of the most expensive to make, not just because of its two main stars, but also its exotic locations.

Maybe it's out of nostalgia, maybe it's because I've grown up with the series, but whichever way I choose to look at it, I come to the conclusion that The Persuaders was and still is one of the best detective/adventure/action/what-have-you-series ever created. Because even now, as I recently bought the complete series on DVD, and has been able to watch all episodes again, including many which I missed when they were aired on TV, I can't help but being endlessly charmed and entertained by it.
