"The Lucy Show" which debuted in 1962 was Lucy's comeback series after her legendary "I Love Lucy" went off the air following her divorce from Desi Arnaz. Many felt that Lucy, by herself could not sustain the momentum from her previous hit, but, with the aid of longtime "Lucy" co-star Vivian Vance, she successfully put forth a different "take" on the Lucy character.

This was Lucy's first series after the Lucy-Desi break-up. In many ways though it followed the same formula as I Love Lucy in that the comedy was set up just as well and Lucy is just as funny.

While the show was very good, I can't give it a **** rating because it didn't reach the comedic limits of the original "I Love Lucy" show of the 1950s.With her marriage to Desi Arnaz over, Lucy had to move on with her life, but continue her successful television career.

The Lucy Show was one-of-a-kind and had Lucy and Vivian in one hilarious episode after the other. Scenes of Lucy's knitted dress coming unraveled because a strand is caught in the elevator, watching Lucy and Viv try to get Mr.

Premiering on October 1,1962 the situation comedy series "The Lucy Show" aired on CBS. It was Lucille Ball's followed up to "I Love Lucy",and here first prime-time series without Desi Arnaz.

Five years after I Love Lucy ended, Lucille Ball returned to TV in her second sitcom, titled The Lucy Show. Unlike Lucy Ricardo, she played a widowed mother of a daughter named Chris, played by Candy Moore and a son named Jerry, portrayed by Jimmy Garrett.

ITA that the first years w/Vivian Vance were the best. She & Lucy must have been off-screen friends because they worked so well together and had such great chemistry.

As many others have stated, the early years of this reincarnation of "I Love Lucy" are the ones worth watching. The show mutated over the years, with the deletion of her children and Vivian Vance, and the increased presence of the annoying Gale Gordon.

The black and white episodes were the funniest of the entire series. Maybe this has to do with Vivian Vance, who was better here than in the "I Love Lucy" show.
