Arkin and Douglas are such great fun together - Douglas kind of stumbling through life with the help of his patient and capable daughter (Sarah Baker), Arkin the caustic but funny widower who talks to his dead wife. Both growing older and dealing with it in Hollywood - what a trip.
Good cast. Lots of dry humor on aging, so very appealing to a more mature crowd.
...is that it leaves you wanting much more.
A perfect balanced bundle of plots, double meanings, dark humor, life lessons, guilty pleasures, stereotype thinking, hidden sides, interpersonal ups n downs,...No spotlight-on-Douglas series, way above average acting by all protagonists, excellent camera angling, nice in outdoor location setting.
Wow.. Arkin & Douglas are superb , like Lemmon & Matthau!
This show is incredible, and season 2 is even better than the first. Michael Douglas is brilliant in everything he does, and comedy he can definitely do well.
Very, very funny. Well constructed acerbic dialogue.
Simple and brilliant. Funny and exciting.
