Reviews

I was cheering for her. Great and inspirational movie.

For Horse race fans all over This gritty movie provides some telling shots of what it's like to ride a horse in a tight race.

It's a surefire feelgood result for a story featuring sporting triumph over adversity, and movies have exploited the genre regularly throughout cinema history. In a horseracing context, I felt that 'National Velvet' and 'Champions' raised issues echoed in this production, which lacks suspense and tension as a result.

My Review- Ride Like a Giri My Rating 10/10Yes ! A 10:10 from me I've often said when the Australian film industry does well in movie making it usually does very well.

Another great Australian film, Sam Neil was great in it as always, him along with Teresa Parker and Henry Nixon. They all did great in this incredibly uplifting and well acted out and directed movie based on a true story of the first female champion of the Melbourne Cup.

Strangely, it has the dynamism of an action movie and the uplifting narrative of a superhero origin movie but it is neither. Captures the pace, aggression, and danger of horse racing very well.

As an Australian producer I can be critical of content but the writing & direction of this film gripped my attention on many levels. This heart felt story took the audience on the journey of this strong family, the courage and authenticity of characters, the strength of a woman & her driven inner tenacity was inspiring and including the horses was outstanding.

I am not a fan or horse racing, but putting that aside, I am a middle aged man, and this movie had me balling my eyes out in front of my kids. This is one of the most meaningful sporting moments in the history of world sports, and is very well told In this movie.

What a suprise this one was, as a huge supporter of Australian cinema this really rung home for me on how determined we are as Australian in the sports industry and as well just how spirited we are when we are put to the test. Sam Neil plays an excellent role and Michelle is an excellent character.
