This is really a great show to watch---when the children (including teenagers)--are not around. It's pretty explicit without being exploitative.

I picked it up out of curiosity. I think it tells a story very well, from the right perspective, encompassing a lot of factors that lead a person to a life of a stripper.
This isn't a show I'd normally watch. I'm mixed black/white 45yo educated woman who grew up in Compton, CA with parents who had a great relationship until death did them part, attended private schools.
Well-told story. Great acting and directing, accurate portrayal of "the life" as a lot of aptly presented small stories teasing the bigger stories of the world.

Ok, let's be real. I am part native and even I found this offensive in the sense that it paints a picture that strippers are mostly minority and their story.
