I think the movie is well written and there's good acting. But what's the point?
We was feeling bored on a Monday night and decided to watch a film to lift the spirits. we decided to watch Mudbound and we are mo longer bored, now we want to die.
Well directed drama by Dee Rees taking place in the 1940's Mississippi. A newly transplanted white family from Memphis is unprepared for the harsh demands of farming, when acquiring a cotton farm lived on by black tenant farmers who have worked the land for generations.
This is a slow burn drama about a white and black family trying to survive farming hardships of the Jim Crow era. When I first watched this I got bored but stay with it a bit and the characters grow on you as you watch them struggle running a farm.
Slightly drawn out at the start, bit too long, but gets better towards the end. While there are far better films with much better performances on the subject of racial tensions of the past, you're left under no illusion of the evil of some people and, if you live your life with your eyes and ears open, you will know that they still walk the streets today and probably in greater numbers.
I loved this film. Rob Morgan was just amazing!
(Flash Review)As tight as the last twist or two of a screw is how the intensity ratchets up in this film. Taking place in Mississippi in the 40s during WWII, the story revolves around the relationship between a white farming family and an African American family that is paid to work the land with them with lively racial discrimination afoot.
Set in the 1940s and nothing much has cnaged in the United States still full of racism hate and violence with a sick perverted right wing ideology destroying a once great country. All this is clearly demonstrated in this movie .
Good movie...not great...
