I understand why the cancelled it, watching the last series was a real struggle for me, it lost direction in series three and only got worse in four. A real shame, I really enjoyed series one and two.
Exactly WHY this series never made the noise it deserves is a mystery. There were hardly any promotions, no late night tv host shows.
Jungles? Orchestra?
I try out shows that get a 7.5 rating or higher, and I am amazed at how many of them that get an 8 rating or above along with glowing reviews that are complete failures for me.
Following Rodrigo, a young Mexican maestro, that starts working at the New York Symphony as well as its musicians and managers, this is a new "comedy-drama" focused on music, ambition and finding your way through life. There is nothing like this on TV but that necessarily doesn't mean its brilliant.
I've been watching a lot of "heavy" series lately (Dexter, Oz, Game of Thrones, Transparent), so "Mozart in the Jungle" has been a breath of fresh air. Both seasons have been thoroughly enjoyable.
I absolutely love it. The way Mozart in the Jungle is written, directed and performed.
Not right to judge a show 22 minutes into the pilot, but nothing was happening. Another highlight of human depravity expressed as art and a perspective into real peoples lives.
Take the excitement and hope of youthful aspirant in Smash and bring it into a complex world of drama that has the history and histrionics of classical music and you have this great show.Where else but the stage can define drama but here is the drama behind the scenes of the stage.
