I'm binging the series on E! channel off my Roku.

I was a very young kid when the show aired but I remember staying up late on Friday nights to watch the reruns. At the time it was the scariest show I had ever seen.

A highly enjoyable show and a shame it only lasted twenty episodes. Its short life may have been due to redundancies the show takes formulaic to a whole new degree.

If IMDb allowed short reviews (they don't, they have rules) I would make this a one sentence review and simply point out that the producers and writers of the X-Files claimed their hit show was an "homage" to this incredible series. That is all you really need to know.

Carl Kolchak is a reporter for a Chicago newspaper. Through more accident than design he ends up investigating homicides, many of which involve supernatural forces.

I grew up watching Darren McGavin as Karel 'Car'l Kolchak, an intrepid reporter whose nose for news always seems to lead him towards some terrifying monster or entity. With his brashness and knack for irritating everyone, he always gets to the heart of the story, even if he has to stake it.

This is probably my favorite episode despite being corny. Since it first aired in 1974, we've joked about Kolchak melting silver into bullets.

I remember every show being a young kid with a way older sister, she would have a slumber party with all her cheerleader friends, my parents would be out on Saturday night and I was going to get to stay up late and watch my favorite show. We only had about 5 or 6 channels back then and I would crawl up in my parents bed , get ready with some popcorn and watch The Night Stalker.
