Apprenticing for Fogarty ( Bud Jamison ) , an Irish plumber, Jake Schwartz ( Jess Devorska ) is forced to support his widowed mother on the measly sum of twelve dollars a week. He hopes eventually to be able to marry and support Sarah Levine ( Sharon Lynn ), who supports her entire family by working in a garment factory.
