I wholeheartedly second the review someone else did saying this movie should be made available as a DVD! I have remembered this movie since I saw it when I was about 9 years old!

..despite the fact that the two stars are children it is really not a kids movie.

I am 55 years old and I have NEVER forgotten the impact this film made on me as a child. Along with many other reviewers, I saw this film late one Saturday morning on the CBS Children's Film Festival and I have not forgotten it for my entire life.

I caught this affecting little fable reminiscent of 'Jeux Interdits' tonight on Talking Pictures for the first time since I originally saw it over fifty years ago when I was then exactly the same age as the two little nippers in it.The kids are cute, although John Gregson's a bit hard to believe as a priest, and the presence of Kathleen Byron and Miriam Karlin as the mothers highlights the flashes of asperity in Diana Morgan's script.

I'm watching this lovely film now on talking pictures as I write this. Why can't we make classic heartwarming films like this anymore in Britain.

It's amazing how many of these comments reflect my own experience! I've felt like I dreamed this film as I saw it once as a child and then never was able to see it again.

If Loretta Parry is still reading the reviews here I'd just like to say that I really enjoyed this film especially as I had a very similar relationship with a girl of the same age as me (11) at the time the film originally came out. I have only just seen Hand in Hand today on Talking Pictures and found it enchanting and affecting.

Having just discovered this sweet gem of a film on Talking Pictures one afternoon this can show why not look at the word from a childs point of view. Perhaps the world can be viewed which we see with innocence just for once forget our predujicies which are instilled in us as we turn adult and show that those of different faiths can get along in this world if we truly want to.

I've just watched this film. What a wonderful and inspirational story.
